Membership Services
The Association is open to all people interested in the well being and advancement of the breed and has a membership that reaches into the four corners of the country. Its purpose is the collection, revision, preservation, and publication of the history and pedigrees of purebred Clydesdale horses...and whatever else the directors deem is in the interest of serving the breed and its breeders.
MEMBERSHIP & FEES: A lifetime membership cost $100.00. This membership conveys voting privileges at the annual meeting and offers substantial reductions in fees. Anyone who plans to breed Clydesdale horses can ill-afford not to be a member. A copy of the by-laws governing the association is available to each new member. (Membership Application) ANNUAL DUES: The annual dues is an optional, but recommended, feature for Lifetime members. Annual dues are payable by January 1st of each year. There is a $10 late fee for dues that are paid after February 1st of each year. There are two annual dues packages that members may choose from: Membership Renewal Package #1: $50 for U.S. Members ($60 for outside of U.S.) 2009 Clydesdale News Call to the Annual Meeting Newsletter Three Issues of the Lead Horse Newsletter On-line Heavy Horse Program Sale Catalog Membership Renewal Package #2: #80 for U.S. Members ($90 for outside of U.S.) 2009 Clydesdale News Call to the Annual Meeting Newsletter Three Issues of the Lead Horse Newsletter On-line Heavy Horse Program Sale Catalog Breeders Listing for 2009 on website (clydesusa.com; a $40 value) Click here for 2011 Dues Renewal Notice. The choice of paying your dues in no way affects the voting or fee reduction privileges afforded to lifetime members; your lifetime membership secures those privileges for life. The payment of dues will also place your name in the Breeders Directory of the yearly Clydesdale News. Each active, dues paying member will have access to the Clydesdale Horse Pedigree Program via the internet. This priviledge will allow a member to do searches on individual horses with the ability to run family trees, progeny reports and much more. For anyone wishing to stay abreast of the breeding and trade in Clydesdale horses, the payment of the yearly dues is well worth the money. REGISTRATIONS: Clydesdales will be accepted for the Stud Book if by a sire and out of a dam, both of which are certified complete three generations pedigree of registered Clydesdales. Horses listed as Appendix Registered horses in Great Britian are not eligable for registry in the U.S.A. (Registration Form) TRANSFERS: When change of ownership occurs, the burden of responsibility for transferring the horse rests on the seller. If the animal is female, it is very important that the application for transfer state whether or not she has been bred. If served, the date of service with the name and stud book number of the stallion, certified to by the then recorded owner of the stallion, or his authorized representative, must appear. Making sure that this is in order and done at the time of the purchase will greatly simplify the subsequent recording of the foal she is carrying.
(Transfer Form)When buying your first registered Clydesdale, make certain the horse is properly transferred to you. Unfortunately, there are occasions when the pedigree is simply handed over to the new buyer....and sometimes, in his or her innocence, he or she thinks that the horse is now theirs in the eyes of the Association. This is not the case. The pedigree, along with a properly filled out transfer by the seller, must be sent into the office for change of ownership. If this is not done, the subsequent recording of foals and further transfers become complicated and costly requiring delinquent fees and processing delays. IMPORTS: A registered Clydesdale purchased in Canada or Great Britain is eligible for registry in our stud book, with the presentation of a certified complete three generation pedigree of registered Clydesdales, certificate of export and a properly filled out application for registry. We cannot transfer horses that are not recorded in the American book, and taking care of this promptly, in the case of imports, will also tend to avert later misunderstandings, & delinquent fees. Once again, Appendix Registered horses from Great Britian are not eligable for registry in the U.S.A. PREFIXES: A member may register a prefix for $50.00. Such prefixes to be restricted to and required of every foal recorded by that breeder. No one else will be permitted to use that prefix. Such prefixes to be transferable to heirs and successors. (Prefix Application) WEB LISTINGS: The Association offers two types of web site listings to their members; 1. Web Breeders listing - A member can submit a Web Breeders listing for $40 per year. These listings include name, farm name, address, phone, email, website and then a general description of your operation. These listings are loaded onto the web in January or February. Breeders listings can be added any time during the year, but will be charged the full $40 for the year.
