2020 NATIONAL CLYDESDALE SALE
Dear Consignors, Members, & Potential buyers –
The events of the past days and weeks have been unprecedented, however, our main priority continues to be the health and well-being of our members, our customers and our community.
Due to the COVID-19 and the cancellation of venues for large gatherings , the Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 2020 National Clydesdale Sale. The Board of Directors has worked diligently to provide a quality equine event and social gathering for all to enjoy. We are all deeply disappointed to have to miss out on this event that we all look forward to each and every year. However, we must face this crisis and do our part to stop the spread of this deadly virus.
The Board of Directors will meet by teleconference on Tuesday April 7th to discuss all possible options to hold our 2020 Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting has not been cancelled. Every effort will be made to reschedule. The feasibility of having an in person gathering will be discussed along with other contingency options. Members will be updated on the status of the Annual meeting along with voting procedures on our website www.clydesusa.com , Constant Contact e-mails and Facebook. As this pandemic is changing hourly, we must prepare for the fact that a public meeting may not be possible this year. Members are highly encouraged to request an absentee ballot to vote this year. New deadlines for absentee voting will be extended. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is now April 30th. The deadline to cast your ballot is extended to May 21st,2020. Ballots will be addressed to the accounting agency hired to accept and tabulate the ballots. Keep in mind that the candidates have resumes and answers to five questions posted on our website under the members tab. This information may give insight into who you would like to vote for. If you have not already done so, we again request members call the office (815) 247-8780 to update their contact information. It is becoming increasingly important the we have correct phone numbers, mailing addresses and email addresses. Our communication efforts are only as good as the contact information we have on file for you.
All consignors who have paid will have their entry fees refunded. All sale horses will be left on the website www.draftsforsale.com until the ads expire. The National Sale and Social Media Committees are willing to assist you in the private sale of your consigned horses. Feel free to contact the office by e-mail to receive assistance. This may include adding prices, additional pictures, Facebook promotion as well as adding your direct contact information for potential buyers.
We are monitoring this situation and will continue to make decisions that are in the best interest of our membership, our customers and the greater community. We will look forward to holding The National Clydesdale Sale and Annual Meeting in the spring of 2021 and we look forward to your continued support. As you know, this is an evolving situation, so we will update you as necessary. In the meantime, please take care of yourself and your loved ones.
